Dachshund

The mighty and fearless little miniature Dachshund. The odd one out from our Oodle breeds, but never the less I absolutely love this little dog with a passion. You would never believe this little guy was bred to dig out the mighty old badger from under ground. Wow, incredibly this little fellow with his lowly slung body and powerful little short legs would dig to his heart content to get to that badger, and success was usually in the Dachshund;s favour. I have so many fond memories of the Dachshund, they are incredibly loyal dogs with a great need to be part of your life. They really are a fantastic dog and a brilliant companion too.  I would highly recommend the Dachshund to anyone from families to the more mature folk or the single person wanting a great friend and a perfect companion. They will perform most things, but most of all they will sit with you absolutely content while watching your favourite TV show together. Easy on the snacks please because there is nothing worse than an overly well fed sausage dog let me tell you that.  It's cute but not pretty!        

Attitude and exercise requirements 

Although this little guy is a busy little bee and loves a romp around the garden chasing lizards etc etc, they definitely do not need a huge backyard. A short brisk walk and a game of ball is quite enough to keep this little guy happy. But never underestimate their ability to walk long distances if required, they are wonderful walking buddies and will keep up with the best of you.  

Who suits the Dachshund?

Well most people suit the Dachshund, they are such an easy dog to have around, easy to groom and easy to look after, once in home they settle down really well and perform extremely well as house dogs and do love to lounge around,  when bedtime time approaches they will be the first one in the room. You cannot go wrong with a Dachshund or two, or even three. Love this dog
