Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The king Charles Cavalier Spaniel is the foundation breed of the Cavoodle and what a splendid dog they are too. Gorgeous, gentle, obedient and a pleasure to own.  I first came into contact with this super dog of the doggie world way back in the eighties at the spring fair dog show. I remember my first experience watching these beauties parade around the show ring like they owned it, calm majestic and seemed to remind me of royalty. I fell in love instantly and went on my search to buy one to join our family. Well I did find one and she was the most gorgeous dog that my eyes had ever seen and her name was Ruby girl. My whole family adored her for the next 14 years of her life.  She was such a special girl and we miss her so much.

Attitude and exercise requirements 

 The Cavalier is a dog breed that only needs moderate amounts of exercise and will do well with a short walk or play once a day, They don't need a whole lot of exercise and do make fantastic house dogs. They toilet train quite well and are non destructive in the home.  The Cavalier must be fed correctly as this breed can be inclined to put on weight, so a correct feeding program must be introduced accordingly.  No scones and cream please.

Who suits the Cavalier? 

We all suit the Cavalier - both young and older folk. They are wonderful dogs with the most gorgeous temperament of all breeds in the the doggie kingdom. They really are a great little dog and a fantastic companion for all to enjoy.  If there was such a thing as a multi purpose dog the Cavalier would be the closest dog breed to accomplish this. And yes, I do have a soft spot for this dog, you guessed it.  The cavalier makes a fantastic house dog and are non destructive in your home,  so if you choose to have this breed as a house dog and decide to go out for dinner one night without your Cav,  you're guaranteed not to come back home to half of a couch and one and a half thongs. (The thongs you put on your feet, not the dental floss type lol!)
